Board Improvements and Lara Agent Development Update

We have completed a new round of improvements for Workspace Boards, focusing on smoother interactions, better mobile usability, safer actions, and more reliable task management.

We have also continued working on the upcoming Lara Agent. Lara is not available yet and will be released later, as development and testing are still ongoing.

Workspace Boards

Improved card movement

Cards can now be dragged using their entire surface again, without requiring a separate drag handle.

Desktop and mobile interactions have been adjusted separately to keep card movement reliable without interfering with normal scrolling or opening a card.

On mobile devices, dragging starts after a deliberate long press, reducing accidental movement while scrolling through the board.

Smoother column interactions

The Add Card action no longer uses a layout-changing animation that caused columns and surrounding content to move up and down.

On desktop, the Add Card option now appears immediately when the user hovers over the relevant column.

It does not change the column size during card movement, helping prevent unstable drop positions and visual lag.

On mobile, the Add Card action remains available directly from the column header without taking up unnecessary space at the bottom of every column.

Safer drag and drop

Mouse and touch interactions are now handled separately to improve reliability across devices.

Card and column movement has also been improved for keyboard users.

Reordering is disabled while search results or quick filters are active, preventing hidden cards from creating unexpected ordering results.

Cards can still be moved between columns through their action menu when a filtered view is active.

Better search and filtering

Boards now include quicker ways to focus on:

• Urgent cards
• Overdue cards
• Assigned cards

Search and filtering were updated to work more safely with card ordering and movement.

Safer column deletion

Deleting a column now allows users to choose where its existing cards should be moved.

If part of the operation fails, previously moved cards are restored instead of leaving the board in a partially updated state.

Deletion dialogs and related actions were also improved to reduce accidental repeated actions.

Improved card details

Card properties now use a more responsive layout across desktop, tablet, and mobile sizes.

The following areas were improved:

• Status
• Priority
• Assignees
• Start date
• Due date
• Description
• Card body content

Pending title and description changes are now saved more reliably when closing a card.

Assignees are also displayed correctly even when a card has no visible priority or due date.

Improved date handling

Board dates are now validated more strictly.

Invalid dates such as 2026-02-30 are no longer silently converted into a different date by the browser.

Date-only values are handled more consistently across different time zones.

Accessibility and focus improvements

Board drawers and mobile bottom sheets now use more predictable focus behavior.

The mobile sheet can be expanded or collapsed using the keyboard, and interactive controls have clearer labels.

Board settings, switches, date fields, card actions, and movement controls were also improved for keyboard and screen reader navigation.

Lara Agent

Development of Lara Agent is continuing behind the scenes.

Lara is not being released with this update. More development, testing, and refinement will be completed before it becomes publicly available.

Agent protocol improvements

The internal agent protocol now uses stricter validation before any tool action can run.

Malformed, incomplete, or automatically repaired tool instructions are no longer treated as executable actions.

Compatibility with the existing protocol has been preserved while preparing the system for native structured outputs and function calling.

Safer tool execution

Agent tools now receive stronger validation before execution, including:

• Input schema validation
• Unknown argument rejection
• Authorization hooks
• Approval checks for write actions
• Execution timeouts
• Request cancellation
• Safer error handling
• More restrictive rollback conditions

Successful tool operations and external tool content are also treated separately, helping prevent untrusted external information from being interpreted as a verified system action.

Improved API reliability

The Lara client now includes stronger request handling:

• Request timeouts
• Abort support
• Response size limits
• Content type validation
• Structured error codes
• Request IDs
• Missing authentication checks
• Safer chat history loading
• Improved legacy chat merging

Safer stored agent metadata

Agent run and transaction metadata is handled more cautiously.

Client-side metadata is no longer treated as authoritative proof that an operation was committed or can be reversed.

Rollback actions are only shown for completed, committed, and explicitly reversible operations.

Safer message rendering

Lara message rendering received additional protection for:

• Markdown content
• External links
• Internal application links
• Unsupported URL protocols
• Tool activity links
• Large or malformed content

Improved upcoming Lara interface

The unreleased Lara interface also received improvements to:

• Chat selection
• Message status announcements
• Mobile composer controls
• Delete confirmation
• Tool approval states
• Loading states
• Error handling
• Keyboard navigation
• Screen reader support

These updates are part of Lara’s ongoing development and preparation. Additional changes will be completed before the first public release.
