The palette editor can extract colors from an uploaded image. This is useful when you want a palette based on a photo, product image, artwork, brand asset, interior design reference, or moodboard.
Upload an image
- Open the palette creation page.
- Use the image upload area or drag an image onto the page.
- Wait for the image to load.
- The editor samples the image and picks distinct colors.
- Review the extracted colors and edit any that are too similar or not useful.
How extraction works
The editor samples image pixels, ranks frequent colors, and chooses distinct colors with enough distance between them. This helps avoid selecting several nearly identical shades from the same image area.
Improve extracted palettes
- Use images with clear lighting.
- Avoid images with heavy filters unless the filter is part of the desired style.
- Replace muddy or low-contrast extracted colors manually.
- Add one readable text color if the image palette lacks contrast.
Image tip
Image extraction gives a starting point. Always check whether the result works for the final design.
