How to choose a Lara Chat model

The model selector controls which AI model answers your message. Lara Chat shows model packages based on your subscription tier, so some choices may be locked until you upgrade.

Available model packages

• Free or Go: Gemini is the default fast model for everyday chat.
• Plus: ChatGPT is available for stronger general answers and is the default for Plus-level access.
• Max: Grok is available as a higher-tier option, while Plus and Free models can still be used.

How to choose

• Use the faster default model for short questions, brainstorming, summaries, and simple rewrites.
• Use a stronger model for complex reasoning, detailed planning, careful writing, and technical work.
• Use the highest available option when the answer quality matters more than speed.
• If a model is locked, use the best available model for your current plan or upgrade from the pricing page.

Persona mode behavior

Some persona modes can lock the model choice so the persona works consistently. When that happens, the model selector may not allow switching until you leave that persona flow.
