Slash commands are the fastest way to add blocks while writing. Type / in an editable text area and Workspace opens a menu of available blocks and actions.

Add a block with /

  1. Click into an editable block.
  2. Type /.
  3. Start typing the block name, such as table, board, image, or quote.
  4. Use Arrow Up, Arrow Down, or Tab to move through the list.
  5. Press Enter or click a result to insert it.
  6. Press Escape to close the menu without inserting anything.

Choose from suggested blocks

The slash menu can show a Suggested group first. Common suggestions include Text, Heading 1, To-do List, Image, Table, Board, Quick poll, and AI Writer.

Search the slash menu

Search works across translated block labels, English labels, descriptions, block type aliases, and block tags. For example, searching kanban, tasks, or project can surface the Board block.

Use slash commands on mobile

On mobile, the slash menu opens as a bottom drawer with the title Add block, the hint Choose what to insert, and the search field Search blocks.... You can drag the drawer upward to expand it or downward to close it.

Open Explore more

Choose Explore more when you want the larger Explore blocks library. The library has Blocks and Templates tabs, previews, and the search field Search blocks and templates....

Troubleshooting

  • If / does not open the menu, check that you are in edit mode and have edit access.
  • If Continue writing does not appear, there may not be enough surrounding text for that action.
  • If a block appears in Explore blocks but not in the quick slash list, search for it or open Explore more.
  • If you have Viewer access, you can view and comment but cannot insert blocks.

FAQ

Why did Continue writing not appear? The menu only shows Continue writing when it is applicable to the current context.

Can I use slash commands on mobile? Yes. Mobile uses a bottom drawer instead of the desktop floating menu.

What is Explore more? It opens the larger Explore blocks library where you can browse blocks and templates with previews.
