Workspace has received one of its largest editor updates yet.
This release introduces collapsible sections, section-based block movement, a dedicated viewing mode, iframe embeds, better mobile controls, improvements to several existing blocks, and a new SEO system for published Workspace Sites.
Headings are now much more than simple text blocks.
The previous Heading and Toggle Heading blocks have been combined into one flexible Heading block. From the block settings, you can now choose:
The heading level: H1, H2, or H3
Whether the heading can be collapsed
Whether the entire section should move with the heading
When a heading is collapsible, users can close the section to temporarily hide everything underneath it. Opening the heading reveals the content again, making longer Workspace files much easier to navigate.
A new optional setting lets you move an entire section together with its heading.
When enabled, dragging the heading also moves every block belonging to that section, up until the next relevant heading. This means you no longer need to manually move paragraphs, tables, images, to-do lists, and other blocks individually when reorganizing a document.
The feature is disabled by default and can be enabled separately for each heading from its block settings.
Pressing down shift while moving the heading enables this feature, so you don't have to set it to be enabled all the time.
Workspace files now include a dedicated viewing mode.
When opening a file in view mode, the content remains fully readable, but editing actions are disabled. You cannot type, move blocks, delete content, or accidentally change the file.
This creates a safer way to review documents, read shared content, or present a Workspace file without worrying about unintended edits.
Workspace now includes a dedicated iframe block.
You can embed any external page that allows iframe embedding directly inside a Workspace file. This can be useful for dashboards, interactive tools, forms, previews, maps, prototypes, and other web content.
When you paste a supported URL into Workspace, the editor can also ask whether you would like to embed it as an iframe instead of displaying it as a normal link.
Iframe blocks include flexible sizing and alignment controls. Even when the main Workspace content uses a centered maximum width, an iframe can be expanded beyond that limit when the embedded content needs more space.
The same wider layout controls are also available for video and other compatible media blocks.
Published Workspace Sites now include a built-in SEO system.
Workspace analyzes the structure of the published content, including headings such as H1, H2, and H3, and uses this information to create clearer page metadata and a more understandable content hierarchy for search engines.
This does not guarantee that every published page will immediately appear in Google, but it gives useful, content-rich Workspace Sites a significantly stronger technical foundation for being discovered and indexed.
The SEO system works automatically, so users can focus on creating useful content instead of manually configuring every technical detail.
Workspace is becoming easier to use from a phone.
Many traditional dropdown menus are being replaced with mobile bottom sheets. These panels are designed specifically for touch controls and can be opened, moved, and dismissed more naturally on smaller screens.
This update reduces crowded menus and makes block settings, actions, and additional options easier to reach while editing from mobile devices.
More Workspace controls will continue moving to this system over time.
The Code Block now supports more programming languages and includes improved language handling.
Python support has also been added, including the ability to run supported Python code directly from the block. This makes Workspace more useful for examples, experiments, technical notes, documentation, and lightweight code testing.
The Code Block interface and general editing experience have also been improved.
Several existing Workspace blocks have received focused fixes and usability improvements.
Tables are now easier to view, navigate, and edit. The updated interactions make working with larger tables more predictable, particularly when content extends horizontally.
To-do items are no longer overly sensitive when selecting text.
Previously, starting a text selection could sometimes be interpreted as completing the item. Text can now be selected and edited more naturally without accidentally changing the task status.
Quote blocks have received stability and rendering improvements, creating a more consistent experience across different Workspace layouts.
Video blocks now support the improved sizing and layout system introduced for iframe content. Videos can be displayed beyond the normal centered content width when a wider presentation is needed.
Because collapsible behavior is now built directly into headings, separate Toggle Heading blocks are no longer necessary. Existing heading functionality is now managed through one clearer and more flexible block.
Together, these changes make Workspace better suited for structured documentation, project planning, internal knowledge, public content, technical work, and larger files with many different sections.
Collapsible headings reduce visual noise. Section movement makes reorganizing content faster. View mode prevents accidental edits. Iframes bring external tools directly into files. Published Sites now have stronger SEO foundations. Mobile editing feels more natural.
And this is only the beginning.
A new Lara AI Agent is currently being developed for Workspace.
The Agent is not available yet, but it is being designed to work more directly with Workspace content and help users complete larger, multi-step tasks. It will be introduced in a future update once its behavior, reliability, and task execution are ready for release. It is already finished, but we have to review it for safety reasons.
More details will be shared soon.
