How to use palette categories

Browse Color Palettes by style categories and color-family categories.

1 min read147 wordsUpdated May 20, 2026

Categories help you narrow the palette library by mood, use case, season, visual style, or color family. They are useful when search is too specific or random browsing is too broad.

Style and use-case categories

Palettes can be tagged with categories such as Brand, Light, Dark, Pastel, Retro, Neon, Warm, Cold, Nature, Space, Gradient, Wedding, Christmas, Halloween, and more. These describe the overall use case or mood.

Color-family categories

Color categories describe dominant color families such as Black, Navy, Purple, Red, Pink, Blue, Teal, Mint, Green, Yellow, Gold, Orange, Beige, Gray, Brown, and others.

Category pages

Clicking a category badge opens /color-palette/category/{category}. Category pages show more palettes related to that tag and keep the same search, sort, save, and like behavior.

Category tip

Use style categories for project mood and color-family categories for visual direction.
