How to understand Unique clickers

Learn the difference between total clicks, unique clickers, repeat clickers, and clicks per clicker.

1 min read153 wordsUpdated May 20, 2026

Unique clickers tells you how many distinct visitors clicked, instead of only counting how many total clicks happened.

  • Unique clickers: distinct visitors who clicked at least once.
  • Repeat clickers: visitors who clicked more than once.
  • Repeat rate: the share of clickers who clicked repeatedly.
  • Clicks per clicker: average number of clicks from each clicker.
  • Top links by unique clickers: links ranked by distinct people, not repeated taps.

Why this matters

A link with many total clicks may be clicked repeatedly by a small group. A link with many unique clickers is attracting broader interest.

How to use it

  • Use unique clickers to judge broad interest.
  • Use repeat clickers to judge deeper exploration.
  • Use clicks per clicker to see whether visitors interact with multiple links.
  • Prioritize links that attract both unique visitors and repeated engagement.
