How to use chat history as context

Control when Lara Chat should use previous messages and when a request should be treated independently.

Chat history helps Lara understand what you were already discussing. It is useful for follow-up questions, edits, multi-step plans, and continuing work from earlier messages.

When history helps

  • You say continue, rewrite that, or make it shorter.
  • You are building a plan across multiple messages.
  • You uploaded a file earlier and want to keep discussing it.
  • You want Lara to remember constraints from the current chat.

When to disable or avoid history

Disable history or start a new chat when the next task is unrelated, when previous assumptions may confuse Lara, or when you want a clean answer without old context.

How to recover context

If Lara seems to forget something, restate the key facts in your message. If Lara seems influenced by old context, start a new chat or ask it to ignore the previous direction.

Context rule

Use history for continuity. Use a new chat for a clean start.
