Uploading Files Guide and tutorial

Why some file types are blocked in Vault

Understand blocked file extensions and MIME types during upload.

1 min read114 wordsUpdated May 20, 2026

Vault blocks risky file types before upload. This protects users and ReadyTools from executable, script, unsafe HTML, and other dangerous or unsupported files.

  • Executable formats can be blocked.
  • Script formats such as JavaScript, shell scripts, PowerShell, and VBScript can be blocked.
  • SVG and HTML-style files can be blocked because they may contain active content.
  • Unknown application/octet-stream files can be rejected.

If a file is blocked, Vault shows a validation message in the upload modal and prevents upload until the blocked item is removed.

Best use

Upload normal media and document formats. Avoid storing executable or active-content files in Vault.
